Hi all,

Running 4D Server 2004.7 on Mac OSX 10.5 with Active4D 4.0.

Yesterday we had a hard disk failure and had to replace our whole system (a
very traumatic experience with hundreds of remote users!)

Anyway, we are now back up and running, but with a few issues outstanding which
I need some help with:

1. Root user

When we first started using 4D Server/Active 4D we used to have to provide 4D
Server access to the root by dragging it onto Pseudo to launch. Then something
which I failed to document at the time and have now forgotten changed all that,
and a straightforward launch without Pseudo was fine.

Now I find that I have to drag onto Pseudo again in order to launch 4D Server's
web server and use Active4D. What can I do to put this right again?

2. Backing up

We back up our files to tape overnight so that a copy of our data leaves the
building, and also have 4D Server back up to an external hard drive.

Having had this total disk failure, I have installed a second drive into the 4D
Server machine with the intention of running Time Machine backups onto that. A
catastrophic failure in future could them be recovered by replacing hardware
and restoring the Time Machine backup.

Does anyone else already do this? I'm concerned that with a large data file (c.
700MB) which is being constantly updated it might be slow or clunky.

Thanks!

David Wright
