Hello,

You don't say which version of 4D you are using, but we have had problems with
4D v11 and RECEIVE PACKET. When we upgraded an application from 4D 2004 to v11,
the load of records slowed to a crawl. We were running on Windows 2003 Server.

What we found was that when the path to the file in the open document command
used a UNC path e.g. \\computer\Test_Import04\Sample.txt the performance
degrades significantly on v11, see the timings below:

4D 2004 with UNC path took 5297 ms
4D 2004 with non UNC path took 4454 ms
4D v11 with UNC path took 45453 ms
4D v11 with non UNC path took 5437 ms

We removed the use of the UNC path by copying the import file in to the local
folder on the 4D server, and loaded the file from there. It then returned to
loading 20,000 records per minute.

It had nothing to do with Active 4D.

Kind regards,
Adrian Elson

Subject: Re: [Active4d-dev] DISTINCT VALUES and MULTI SORT ARRAY

Good day,

I got an issue but not sure if its active 4d. I Import data from a txt file
directly into tables with RECEIVE PACKET.

It starts very fast and import around 800 records within 1 minute. Then 80 per
minute.

I flush buffers every 500 or 700... Nothing changed.

Not sure if its link with active 4d ?

Do u have any advice ?

Im currently testing outside an active 4d base... But its goin to take a while
since that method is very very big. It loops lot lot lot data...

Any clue ?

Have a good day

Bonne journée ! Cordialement,
