As an aspiring wanna be Active4D user (and longtime ObjectTools user) this is
something I have heard before. I have just recently started to install/upgrade
OT to v4 in all of my projects. It's price makes it a no brainer for me. One
thing I realized at the last summit was that it seems a lot of developers
aren't using objects. I just assumed everyone knew of the greatness that is OT.
I imagine the same of A4D. I was fortunate to get a personal demo last year
from Aparajita and it blew me away. I will admit that part of my problem is
that my projects seem too simple for something as advanced as A4D. However, I
want to use them as a launching pad to do more. Now that 4D has included
objects in v14, perhaps new users will begin to understand the benefits of
using them. I wish I would have had this epiphany earlier... I would have done
a summit session on OT. I'm not sure of a feature that separates OT from native
objects. I use Arealist because listboxes don't do the things that I need
. Perhaps there is a avenue there...

Those of us who have been doing this awhile have all said our minds in one form
or another in regards to 4D and marketing and why isn't it this and that, etc.
and it seems to fall on deaf ears. I agree with most of what has been said
here. And my projects are going strong, being one of the 'younger' developers
in the midst (I started using 4D in 1989 when I was 19.) So I do want to know
that I am making a choice that will 'work' for at least another 20 years +. And
I appreciate hearing from people who have looked at the whole gamut of options
and picked A4D since I am doing that as well.

Does that answer your question? I don't think so. About all I can offer is
making sure that every database I work on has both ObjectTools and Active4D
installed so that I can go on using one (and hopefully soon two) of my favorite
tools.
