Title: RE: [ActiveDir] Probelm for you!!!

Hi Seyi,

I think you miss the point: the Domain Admin suppose become the member of Local Admin automatically.

The answer to your problem is very easy.

When you log on as a local admin you have administrative privileges on
the machine, but when you log on as domain admin, you have
administrative privileges on the domain but you do not have
administrative privileges on the local machine. To solve this problem
all you have to do is to go to the user and password icon in control
panel and give the domain admin administrative rights on the individual
machine, once you do this you'll not have this problem again. I had such
a problem once and that was the solution to the problem.

On the other hand since you are deploying these application on so many
laptops, why don't you look at the option of using office 2000 and using
group polo icy to automatically deploy the application to these laptops,
this will relieve you of all the trouble you are going through.

Hi ALL,
I think my message has been wrongly send ...I am sending it again

Description : I have installed Windows 2000 Professional on to a
desktop.
When I login as local admin I can install Office 97 Professional and
Outlook
98. But if I login as domain administrator I am unable to install Office
97
or  outlook 98.
While installing Office 97 a box opens up (before I get the choice to
select
Typical, Custom..) telling me Office 97 has not been installed
successfully.
Similarly if I try to install Outlook 98 it goes ahead with the
installation
but with a number of error messages and finally neither the outllok icon
appears and nor can I get it to work.
It is required that I install both these software as domain admin
because I
have to package it to deliver to over a hundred laptops. The problem
described above has nothing to do with the packaging software as I have
not
used it till now in this case.
If you have any solution to this problem please forward it to me. If you
have any paper which states this as a known problem please forward the
same
as well
#
Thanks
Rajesh
