Hi all.

We have a Windows 2000 cluster with 2 nodes. Both of them are DC. Apparently
MS doesn't recommend it, but we cannot change it now. After a batch of problems
we decided to reinstall them from scratch (we installed another DC to keep the
AD information). After hours of work it seems to work again, now.

Some hours afterwords we've realised that SMS has tried to install itself into
these domain controllers. In the system EventLog there's the following error:

Service Control Manager (ID 7000): The SMS_NT_LOGON_DISCOVERY_AGENT service
failed to start due to the following error: The service did not start due to a
logon failure.

In the Services control panel there is no SMS logon discovery agent service,
so we think that SMS hasn't installed properly itself in the DCs of the
cluster.

What we want is to get rid of SMS in these DCs, but not from the 3rd DC.
First, how to clean the faulty SMS installation, and second how to prevent SMS
from installing itself in the DCs of the cluster. MS says you cannot choose in
which DC SMS will install itself, but we've heard that there's a registry key
that could allow us to prevent SMS from touching these DCs.

  Thanks in advance.
