Hi Danny

Welcome to the list. The newcomer typically buys the champagne. :-)

I don't have any direct experience of the Server Consolidaton tool, but I
have recently spoken to a NetIQ account manager about their Migration Suite.

The Migration Suite comprises the following:

Domain Migration Administrator (DMA)
Exchange Migrator
Configuration Assessor
NetIQ Netware Migrator
Server Consolidator

Licences for each of the modules can be purchased individually, but they
will also give you a discounted price for the whole Migration Suite.

Obviously, prices are likely to vary by country and customer, but if I
remember correctly, the list price for DMA on its own was $7/user (didn't
ask abuot Serve Consolidator). I'm sure prices are negotiable depending on
a number of factors such as whether you are an existing customer, the number
of licences required, the number of modules purchased, etc. I believe some
discounts may also be available if you use either Compaq or Microsoft
Consulting to perform the migration.

My recommendation would be to contact NetIQ to discuss your requirement. In
our case we arranged for a NetIQ system engineer to come on site to talk
about the benefits of DMA relative to ADMT 2.0.

Subject: Server consolidation, was RE: [ActiveDir] any software that
would do this?

Hi everyone

This is my first post! Where's the champagne...? :)

I noticed NetIQ supply a Server Consolidation tool for NT to 2000. Anyone
any idea of the cost of this product (Jason :) ) and/or any other tools
which would do the job. Also, if anyone has any previous experience of using
these tools, I'd appreciate your views of them.

NetIQ had a products that does this for the file system and the AD.

The first tool, called File Security Administrator, includes many different
reports to show where a user or group has access to files, directories, and
shares.
