When you say, "create an entry with the userpassword attribute", what sort of object
did you create?

Anonymous access to the Active Directory is restricted by default. This means that
access is only available to authenticated users.

You can change this by granting READ permissions to the "Everyone" group on the
relevant container(s). You must grant it from the root of the directory down to the
container(s) of interest.

Before you do this, you might want to consider the security implications for your
environment.

connect as an entry that is not a user account.

that is, i create an entry with the userpassword attribute and try to
connect to AD with a ldapbrowser by providing a DN and the corresponding
password. it does not work !
i would like to know if it is possible to connect as an entry which is
not a user account ?
