You can do the same thing with 2000. You will have to run NTDSUTIL to move
all the roles to the "UP" systems in the lab, once you move it. If you move
more than one, then you may want to manually setup a connection between them
so they start to sync once they are out of production. (Site and Services
MMC).

If you have similar hardware, you could do a restore. Primary if you will
only bring back one. Authoritative/ NON-Authoritative if you are restoring
more than one DC.

If you have dissimilar hardware, Aelita has ERDisk for AD to restore AD on
dissimilar hardware. I have NOT gotten this to work, but it has promise.

That is it exactly. Move it to your lab and promote it to a PDC. DO
NOT RECONNECT IT TO THE SAME WIRING PLANT AS YOUR PRODUCTION DOMAIN ONCE
YOU MOVE IT AND PROMOTE IT.
I assume you are talking about NT4??...

Subject: [ActiveDir] Cloning Domain

I would like to be able to clone our Domain I know that there was a
discussion about this sometime ago but can not find the thread. We about
ready to rebuild our test lab to match production and I am looking for
the easiest way to do so. I believe the thread I am talking about talks
about building a DC in production then moving to the test lab. Any
information would be helpful.
