Dear List, I have a small test lab to put roaming profiles through some tests. What I want to achieve is to create roaming user profiles with "my documents" and "desktop" redirected to a central file server.
I have already set up the basic redirection successfully but one problem remains. When a user creates a document and places it on their desktop or into the "my documents" folder, a cached, offline version also seems to be created. This is what I do not want. The roaming profile is for desktop users and the likelihood of them being disconnected from the network for very long is quite low. So what I want to do is only have shortcuts on the desktop and in the "my documents" folder linking to the actual files on the server. I do not want mirror versions on the workstation for offline work. I have checked through the group policy settings but am not sure which ones might control this action or whether i need to make some registry edits. The one GPO setting I have been testing is "\User configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\Offline Files\Do not automatically make redirected folders available offline". Is this the one to help me achieve my goal or do I need to be looking elsewhere ? Many thanks, Mark List info : http://www.activedir.org/mail_list.htm List FAQ : http://www.activedir.org/list_faq.htm List archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/activedir%40mail.activedir.org/
