Unfortunately, it's a delete/create. Even though the end result is that the mailbox is moved, the way Exchange 5.5 moves it is to delete the old one and create a new one. You can't move objects between containers in Exchange 5.5 like you can in Active Directory.

You're correct. However, it should be noted that doing what you're suggesting creates a new mailbox in the directory. It doesn't move the existing one. It's a delete/create action. Any attempts to reply to this mailbox (say from a previously sent email) will fail because the X.400 information is different and as far as Exchange 5.5 is concerned, this old mailbox doesn't exist anymore. Even though it looks the same, to Exchange 5.5 it isn't. Because the X.400 information has been modified.

You are referring to Exchange 5.5..?..?..? You need to use the Headers.exe program on the Exchange 5.5 CD to create an export file with the Recipient attribute as one of the fields. You then modify the recipient container, add the MODE column and add Modify as the Mode attribute and import the .csv file back into the Exchange directory.

Q146304, Q244595 and Q182508 should lead you in the right direction.

I can move them with no problem within AD but moving them out of the recipients container in EXCHANGE seems not to be a possibility

I may be overly simplifying your email but how I read it, what you need to do should be no problem for you.

Go into AD U&C on your and right click on the users/groups (whatever) and select MOVE.

You should get a pop up window with the tree off you organization. Just click where you want to move them and you should be all set.

How do you move recipients between two recipients containers located on the same server?

I have the ADC configured between AD and Exchange and this is the current CA agreement I have in place

Currently I have:

Exchange Active Directory
Recipients = Users, OU1, OU2, OU3 etc.

This is the CA Agreement I want in place

What I want to do now is

Exchange                Active Directory
Recipients      =       Users
Recipients1     =       OU1
Recipients2     =       OU2
Recipients3     =       OU3

Any help would be appreciated, I am trying to avoid the possibility of new accounts getting created.
