Craig,

Good explanation.  One could take this to the next logical conclusion
that you would always want to use a FQDN for something rather than hard
code an IP address.  Internally and externally, changes often happen
outside of our control, and if all I have to do is to modify a DNS
record, life's much simpler than having to t/shoot 1000 users trying to
update an IP.

Granted, there are going to be cases where an IP address is unavoidable,
but one would hope that these would be few and far between.
