You can do a backup from production and restore in the lab.  That is probably the easiest. You will have to run NTDSUTIL and get the FSMO roles back.  You will also have to reset the NTFRS on the first server you bring online.
 
You could bring systems up in production and manually remove them to the test lab.  You would have to get the FSMO roles in the lab.  You would also have to run NTDSUTIL and ADSIEdit in production and remove these phantom servers from the  production environment.
