I have an issue with a XP Professional. It seems like the workstation can
not find AD DC using DNS. DNS settings have been configured correctly. I ran
nslookup etc, all is fine. The DC's are available (the default DNS servers
are DC's) I have no problems joining an NT4.0 Domain.

Has anyone come across a similar issue?

Subject: [ActiveDir] Recycle Bin Connection

Hey,

We had to dcpromo a non-primary server. After running dcpromo we deleted
the sysvol and NTDS folders. These folders and their contents went to the
Recycle Bin. After running dcpromo and getting the server back online
running all AD snap ins the folders were deleted from the Recycle Bin. When
deleting the folders there was a message that some files were in use, which
was unusual.

By removing these folders we effectively took parts of the AD options out of
the loop. While it still listed users and OU's and similar items, it
removed login scripts and Group Policies. We were able to restore from
backup, but I was just wondering if anyone else has ever encountered an
instance where something in the Recycle Bin was still an active item on the
system.

Thanx

Don L. Hollingshead
