I’ve got a question about migrating computers from one Forest/Domain to another. The company that I work for has an Active Directory structure that was basically thrown up overnight. The reason they did this at the time (I wasn’t here then) was that they needed to deploy a clustered SQL solution, and that requires Active Directory to function properly. I’ve been brought in to bring their entire enterprise up to Active Directory. Since I don’t like the way that they set up their A.D. in the first place, I’m going to build a new Forest with a couple of new domains and migrate all the current objects into the new Forest. I’m planning on using Microsoft’s Active Directory Migration Tool to clone the existing User / Computer / Group (etc.) objects over into the new Forest. Since the current domain is barely used (the company pretty much exists in a Windows NT 4.0 domain that has a trust between it and the Win2k domain) my only real concern is moving the clustered SQL servers over to the new Forest/Domain. Does anyone know of any issues or problems I might encounter trying to do this?
