Ecora.com offers some solutions related to this that may help, but they come
at a cost obviously.

deja vu...just going through this conundrum myself in the last few
days...sigh

The advanced network features for Visio 2002 were discontinued recently:

Visio Enterprise Network Tools and Visio Network Center

Posted: July 01, 2002

Microsoft Visio(r) Enterprise Network Tools has been discontinued due to
lack of customer demand. Microsoft regularly evaluates its product offerings
to ensure that customer needs are being met, and in this case determined
that the resources would be better invested in other ways to serve the
network documentation and network management needs of customers. Some of the
functionality in Visio Enterprise Network Tools will be included in either
future versions of Visio or an upcoming, still unannounced network
management product. Visit the Visio Frequently Asked Questions page for more
information.

I was planning on upgrading my copy of Visio Pro 2000 to 2002 take advantage
of these features when I ran up against this yesterday.

>I believe some of these features were also available in the Enterprise
edition of Visio 2000.

I managed to get a copy of 2000 Ent from our Select CD's today and try it
and it did an import from the production AD rather painlessly.

I have heard conflicting information about the abilities of 2002 Pro to do
directory imports and am left wondering if the functionality still exists
but I don't have a copy in hand to try yet.

The way I read the product info from the link Tony posted leads me to
believe that functionality in Visio 2002 is only available in the
discontinued ENT -

Section II. Importing from a Live Directory (Visio Enterprise Network Tools
only)
Section III. Exporting to LDIF (Visio Enterprise Network Tools only)

./very confused

There are some features available in Visio Professional 2002 to do this.
You can import information from AD, export to LDIF file, etc.

I believe some of these features were also available in the Enterprise
edition of Visio 2000.

I am just curious if anyone has come across a mapping tool similar to the
one for Exchange (ExMap.exe), that auto generates a VISIO diagram based on
the information in the Exchange directory.

This would be great for AD.
