When you move sids with ADMT you have to do some work on the workstations
too, to make the move. So be sure they are all one for that. ADMT will
reboot them for you once it is all done.

Got a question on correct ordering of what is migrated:

Scenario:

CENTRAL Domain is Native AD. Always has acted as master domain so most
all resources and groups are located here.

REMOTE Domain is NT4. Obviously has its own accounts but most access is
done to the CENTRAL Domain. All permissions are governed by Global
Groups so many of the CENTRAL Domain groups are duplicated in the REMOTE
Domain. There are a few REMOTE domain groups used solely at the REMOTE
domain. These need to remain localized since the same groups exist at
other REMOTE Domains and need to be kept separate. i.e. REMOTE\HR,
CENTRAL\HR, REMOTE2\HR

Procedure:

1) Create new group at CENTRAL for each REMOTE group, adding a suffix
for the location i.e. CENTRAL\HR-REMOTE, CENTRAL\HR-REMOTE2

2) Using ADMT Group Mapping and Merging Tool, map each REMOTE group to
the newly created CENTRAL group. Migrate SIDS and copy user rights.

3) Using ADMT Group Account Migration Wizard, migrate all REMOTE groups
that are the same as the CENTRAL groups. (ignore previously remapped
groups)
        a) Only migrate group SIDS to target domain.
        b) Choose to move replaced accounts to specified target OU

4) Using ADMT User Account Migration Wizard, migrate all users.
        a) Update user rights
        b) Fix users' group memberships

5) Using ADMT Computer Migration Wizard, migrate all computers (except
domain controllers)

Anyone see any problems with the above? I only have 6 groups affected
in each remote domain that need to be locally oriented with all the rest
needing to merge in to the parent domain. Could do it manually if
necessary but I believe the above procedure should do it for me.

Thanks for your help.

Pete

Correct. One of the speakers at MEC in Anaheim last year announced that
it is now supported.

A number of people on this list have done exactly what Pete is planning
to do (including me!). It works fine.

Worked for me. I understood the RC1 version WAS supported, so I'd
expect
the RC2 version to be as well.

Are there any issues with using the ADMT 2.0 program from the .NET
Server RC2 CD to merge a NT 4 domain into a native AD domain? The
documentation states that it is Beta and not supported. OTOH, it is the
only way to migrate passwords and I am sure other corrections or
enhancements to the migration process over ver 1.0.
