I tried to DCPROMO a domain controller down to member server status and it
said that it was unable to complete the process. Might be insufficient
permissions, I can't remember exactly. If you all need the log, I will dig
it up.

Anyway, what I want to do is forcible remove the domain controller out of
the domain using NTDSUTIL. I know how to do this. What I am not exactly
sure how to do is remove the NTDS, FRS, and other domain controller stuff
off the actual server and make it advertise as a standalone server.

The reason why this is important is because there are files on the server
that people need access to, and the admins didn't plan for moving the data
to another server. (The good news is this domain is going away.)

So the question to the group in synthesis is how to make the actual domain
controller a standalone server so it can be joined to a new domain and
reACLed.

Thanks,

Todd Myrick
