This topic is also OT but...

Examine the IE security settings with a fine toothed comb.  Try adding sites to trusted zones, try running java pages off a local source, disable every IE security setting you can and see if it works, etc.

Subject: [ActiveDir] Problems with server image

Several servers were loaded with an image that was not fully tested. When I pulled down the image I noticed the problem and then started checking with other admins and sure enough, all of their servers that they pulled down also have the issue.

When IE is launched and you hit a web site that runs java the screen does not update. If you click any menu item it seems to force the screen to update and then you can se the web page. For instance, when you go to windows update to update patches the screen will sit blank till you click on help. Then the screen will update and you can see the scan now button. You press that and then click the help again and you see what patches it found. However when you ask it to install the selected patches IE totally freezes and it will not continue. By reloading IE 6 and downloading the service packs and updates I was able to get the autoupdate service to function again. However the manual function for updates does not work.

Also when web view is turned on under windows explorer you see the same type of problem. The right panel will not update unless you pick a menu item or if you right click on a item in the left panel. When I turned off web view this problem stopped.

I have

1. Reinstalled IE
2. Re-applied service pack 3
3. reapplied IE sp1
4. Reapplied cumulative patch for IE6
5. Reinstalled the scripting engine/VM (version 5.6)

Any ideas?
