I VAUGELY recall seeing this somewhere before - -- if memory serves it has something to do with DNS failure (resolution) and your DNS server(s) not being set to allow Dynamic Updates.

I will look around in my notes/journal/logs to see if I can dig anything up dude.

Subject: [ActiveDir] dcdiag error when joining a new child domain

         ......................... SERVER1 passed test Advertising

      Starting test: KnowsOfRoleHolders

[SERVER1] DsBind() failed with error 1908,

Could not find the domain controller for this domain..

Warning: SERVER2 is the Schema Owner, but is not responding to DS

RPC Bind.

Warning: SERVER2 is the Domain Owner, but is not responding to DS

RPC Bind.

Does anyone know he root cause of why this would happen.  This is a freshly

promoted DC as a child domain of the root.  I have searched for DsBind(),

error 1908, event 1908 and much more and all have turned up the big donut.

Any reference to a KB or Q article would be helpful.  The solution in a

nutshell would be cause for celebration and beers on me if your ever in

Philly.

Thanks in advance,
