What we do for that is just write a login script (which
runs via GPO) that copies the LNK file from a server space to the clients'
desktops. Works for us. You can either set permissions on the script itself or
the GPO to determine who actually gets the icon.
Hope that helps,
Chris

Subject: [ActiveDir] GPO setting query
Anyone know if there
is a GPO setting in w2k server for w2k machines, that will allow me to put a
shortcut or two on everyones desktop? The management have decided that clicking
on Start/Programs etc is too time consuming, so they want shortcuts to all the
commons apps on the users desktops, but it will take forever by
hand.
Ideas
?
Olly
