This is a screenshot of a pop-up that is displayed while using the ADUC to view user account properties. There is an associated fix for this pop-up, but I am reluctant to apply it as Microsoft cannot tell me what the removal of the MSEncryption Key Secret actually does to alleviate the problem, or what the Key actually is there for in the first place. The referencing KB article is found here. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;251180 However, I view that warning as being fairly absolute and like I previously said, Microsoft cannot give me a rock solid answer as to what that key does... So I am asking the Guru's. Anyone else ever have this problem and correct it successfully? Or even better, can you explain to me what this MSEncryption Key Secret actually does? I really don't feel like auth restoring my DC's if I remove this key.
