We are planning an in-place migration from NT4 to Win 2k3. We have a single NT domain named DBAR1, which is derived from the name of our main location. Management wants to be able to decide what to call the new Active Directory domain, something more generic. Doing an in-place migration, is it possible to do that, or will we have to have DBAR1 or some derivative as the new domain name ? I looked up domain rename procedures at http://www.petri.co.il/windows_2003_domain_rename.htm, but it seems domain rename is not possible if we have Exchange in the domain, which I suppose makes it virtually impossible.
