James, thanks for that. Any particular reason you’d want to do it by hacking the registry rather than with GP or using the command line tools (w32tm in specific)? I watched the registry keys and they are set correctly with those commands, and I can do it remotely.
My real questions now, however, are:
1) is Windows XP supposed to reconfigure itself to use NT5DS instead when it joins a domain? 2) And if so, what might be keeping ours from doing it??

In XP you are able to set a local time server through a registry entry, you can run this as a login script if you like. Have not tried this on servers yet.
