Hmmm some other things I do....   Of course I load ActiveState Perl.... I have found that helps my command line working tremendously...   I also register .PL with PATHEXT, as well as .msc. That way I can type JoeRocks instead of JoeRocks.pl  or I can type dsa or adsiedit without adding the MSC.   I have been known to unregister .vbs from PATHEXT...   I set up a command prompt shortcut in my quicklaunch bar...   I try not use spaces and special characters in folders/files/AD DNs....   I set up quick batch files for things that I do a lot, say I want to find an object in the forest by name I have a little batch file called findthis which calls adfind... Basically I type findthis joe  and it does an adfind GC query for that name and dumps out the DNs. If I type get DN then it uses adfind to dump the AD record. If I type kids DN it will show me all of the children of a given object. Since you shared here is one of my favorite command line tips for w2k. Back into NT when typing out long command lines you could use the * for the auto-complete character so from a command prompt cd c:\doc* <enter> would change the dir to “docs and settings” great, but incredibly limited. In UNIX I can use the <Tab> key to really quickly fly through long command lines etc. so to change the NT/W2k default from the <*> to the <Tab> change HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor\CompletionChar value from 40 (I think that is the default) to 9 and restart the command processor.
