Anyone know of a way to restore a child domain for a DR test, without any connectivity
to the root domain of the forest?
I don't need the chema or domain naming roles.
I just want to get up and functional enough for user access and basic everyday use.
This also involves restoring Exchange 2000.
After seizing the fsmo roles for my domain(the child) and running ntdsutil: meta data
cleanup, to get rid of my old dc's, what more do i need to do?
If i get the dns zone for the root and all the srv records, will that be enough or
will i still have repliciation and gc issues?
I guess my question is, Is there anyway to restore a child domain to a functional
level in windows 2000 AD without root connectivity?
I ask because for dr testing, i hate to have to jump through all the political hoops
to get a copy of the root DC and domain admin passwords, etc.
ours is a big enterprise and all our IT depts. don't actually get along or trust each
other :)
thanks for your help in this.
