are there any login scripts being used? 

Could he be loged in on another machine, with a mapped drive??

Look in wins db for his user id, and you might find he logged in somewhere
else.

His home directory was the only persistent mapping. I changed to a different
folder but in the "Account Lockout status" windows the Bad password counts
still keep rising...
