Try putting the exclude after the full drive spec:

 

C:\

C:\dir1\ /exclude

 

This is how ntbackup on my 2003 server shows the bks file when doing a similar thing.

I'm trying to get a scheduled ntbackup that does the system state and a few other directories to recognize the line in my bks file which excludes some directories.

 

The lines in my targets.bks file look something like this:

 

C:\Dir1\ /exclude

C:\

D:\

SystemState

 

I have saved the file as Unicode, per instructions in KB 237310. But ntbackup is still backing up everything, i.e. ignoring my exclude.

 

Anyone seen this before?
