Subject: [ActiveDir] Netlogin replication failures.
Hi,
Can someone point me in the right direction on this one..
I have a server which had been in place for years and was all working fine. Then after a college applied a patch and rolled it back (A long story) the netlogin directory will not replicate. I know the obvious solution is the patch BUT that's last resort (for various reasons). I' d thought I'd try some more general steps first.
Heres what I know.
1. Active Directory Replicates just fine.
2. Netlogin will not replicate in either
direction.
3. If you open event log on the
server IT ALWAYS opens by default to another server.
4. Active Dir User and Computers opens by default to itself.
5. The only error messages I can find look like
The nTDSConnection object cn=34168e91-9acf-4bb6-a055-3b1f3b48cb7d,cn=ntds settings,cn=venus,cn=servers,cn=chatham,cn=sites,cn=configuration,dc=ins-sure,dc=com is conflicting with cn=eb12ea3e-33d6-4951-bdc3-13d651beb7e1,cn=ntds settings,cn=venus,cn=servers,cn=chatham,cn=sites,cn=configuration,dc=ins-sure,dc=com. Using cn=34168e91-9acf-4bb6-a055-3b1f3b48cb7d,cn=ntds settings,cn=venus,cn=servers,cn=chatham,cn=sites,cn=configuration,dc=ins-sure,dc=com
But looking in sites and servers I can't locate
anything with that ID in Venus Replication settings.
6. AND
The File Replication Service is having trouble enabling replication from PLUTO to MINERVA for c:\winnt\sysvol\domain using the DNS name pluto.ins-sure.com. FRS will keep retrying. Following are some of the reasons you would see this warning. [1] FRS can not correctly resolve the DNS name pluto.ins-sure.com from this computer. [2] FRS is not running on pluto.ins-sure.com. [3] The topology information in the Active Directory for this replica has not yet replicated to all the Domain Controllers. This event log message will appear once per connection, After the problem is fixed you will see another event log message indicating that the connection has been established.
Followed by
The File Replication Service has enabled replication from PLUTO to MINERVA for c:\winnt\sysvol\domain after repeated retries.
I'm sure i'm missing something obvious.
Any thoughts ?
Mike.
