That is the WMI Provider Subsystem Host according to my registry. Looking on a DC it is set for an identify of "The launching user". Are you saying yours is hard configured to a specific userid?
That configuration I mention above is on xp client, my k3 test dc, and my k3 test member I currently have up and running. Also I did a quick google on that app and found a couple of hits with the same error message (in german) indicating the issue was with a WMI LOG that is full. joe -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Elton Gouva Pimentel Sent: Wednesday, May 26, 2004 8:24 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [ActiveDir] DCPROMO and Services After running DCPROMO I am experiencing few problems with some services. The account used to start the services does no longer exists after the DCPROMO procedure has completed. When I restart the DC I receive the following error (this is just an example of one of the services) : Date : 5/26/2004 Source: DCOM Time : 8:38:08 AM Category : None Type: Error Event ID : 10000 User : NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService Description : Unable to start a DCOM Server: {73E709EA-5D93-4B2E-BBB0-99B7938DA9E4}. The error: "Access is denied. " Happened while starting this command: C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\wmiprvse.exe -Embedding For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Looking at the log on settings for these services I found out that the account used is NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService. As it is a local account, why the DCPROMO process did not changed the log on settings to an appropriated account ? A further question is which user should be used to start the services that were starting using the NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService user ? I have already tried the Local System Account with no success. Thanks, Elton Pimentel.
