I'm sorry, I must be missing something. Can't you just add them desktop support team to the local power users group on the servers that you create the print shares on? That what we do and it seems to work. The only thing that they can't do is to create new IP ports for shares if they are required but there are some reg permission changes that you can do to allow that.
