Have been getting some strange problems when running the 2003 admins tools on a Windows 2003 server admining a 2000 Domain. As far as I can see, this should be a supported configuration, but whenever we edit a user (any field) using ADUC, and then click apply, the tool complains about an "Active Directory Property Not Found in the Cache", and sets the focus to the users "Alias" field.
Running 2k tools on a 2k box work fine.
Config:
Windows 2003 Server Standard
Windows 2003 Admin Tools Installed
Exchange 2003 Admin Tools Installed
Running other tools (like the Exchange Admin console) also work fine, however mailboxes moves within this don’t (similar problem to the one when running ADUC).
Looks to me like there is either problem in the tool itself, or there is a problem with the AD Schema (field length or type), that the 2k3 admin tools are baulking at. Doesn’t appear to be a permissions issue, as performing exactly the same task as the same user on a 2k box works fine.
Any Pointers ?
