[ActiveDir] Exchange Schema question

Hello All-   If I run domainprep and forestprep but do not actually setup Exchange, can I still create/import settings for the user's Exchange mailboxes?   (I have a client who wants to hold off on implementing Exchange. I want to be able to create mailboxes during the initial creation of user accounts.)   Thanks.   nme
