Just humor me and boot up with a boot disk, outside of windows and check
the space again.

disk space utlization

Free space = 31,973,376 bytes

Also - update:
1) I ran a virus scan (even though this was cleanly
partitioned/formatted)
using Symantec 9.0 and latest definition files - results were negative.
2) Since so much "white space" showed up in defrag, I defraged it, no
improvement.
3) I did system/volume error checking and rebooted - no change.
4) TreeSize Pro (from the link ASB sent me) reports only 1,414.1 MB in
use
on the system.
5) SpaceMonger (another from the link ASB sent) reports the "free space"
as
just 29.9MB but only lists approximately 1.4GB in usage.

Exactly how much space does it say is available... down to the byte
level?
