You can wait as long as you want. Just be sure to run domainprep on the infrastructure 
master in each domain. The only requisite before you upgrade a domain is that 
domainprep has been run against that domain, and this has replicated. You can check 
that the updates have replicated to a DC for domainprep by checking for the presence 
of the Windows2003Update container in the DomainUpdates container under the system 
container in your domain NC.
