Hi – Maybe you folks can suggest a solution to some problems that
I have been having with Offline Files. I have XP set to redirect My Documents
and automatically make those folders available offline. First, several workstations (only reported on XP, but could
be W2k Pro as well) attempt to synchronize files from another user at every log
off. That is, they synchronize the current user’s files and some from
another user. When it attempts to do so with the other user, it gives an error
saying that it does not have permission to access that directory (usually that
other user’s home directory on the server). Any thoughts as to how to
resolve this? Not even sure how to ask it on the KB. Second, users are complaining that they frequently get the little
icon popping up that the computer has gone offline and can’t see the
server. Then it comes back and attempts to synchronize. I can’t seem to
find general network problems that would cause this. Is it likely that the
workstation is really going offline or just reporting it? (I realize this is
pretty broad, but the networks we are talking about here are pretty simple and
bandwidth does not seem likely. Is there a configuration that I could be
missing?) Thanks. -- nme |
