In W2K3 AD in DFL and FFL W2K3
you have the possibility to rename and/or reposition AD domains within an AD
forest. You can however rename a forest root domain but you can not reposition
it. A domain rename/reposition is also only possible when certain systems accept
it (e.g. E2K3 with SP1) and it has impact on the whole AD
forest!
In W2K AD it is not possible to
rename/reposition a domain within the AD forest
Maybe in the next version of
AD...
Why do you want to keep domain Y
and remove domain X? Is it not possible for you to migrate domain Y into domain
X?
Regards JorgeFrom: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Calders Stijn Sent: Tuesday, December 14, 2004 16:14 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [ActiveDir] making another domain forest root Hi, I’ve a little question: is it
possible to make another domain forest root? I mean: domain X is now forest root
domain, and I want to make domain Y forest root domain. If it is possible, how
do I do this? (Actually, I want to shut down domain X, but I can’t since it is
forest root domain.) Many thanks in
advance, Stijn
