Pardon the interruption, but ...... I don't believe this is feasible for him.
The new accounts will have no resemblance whatsoever with the evaporated
accounts. Difference domains, different SIDs, etc. Cached logon will work for
the old domain, but not for the new domain when the computers are joined to
the new domain. There is also the question of resource access with regards to
the ACEs. I see a lot of downtime in the picture here.
 
I may be completely misinterpreting your recommendation.
