According to the docs they do work for intraforest as well. It's just been so long since I've used it I can't remember exactly which path you want in this situation.
ADMT is a valid tool for domain consolidation (which is essentially what you're doing). The naming conflicts settings are possibly what you're looking for. Rings a bell. But it's been a while. What you really really want is something that can look at the samaccountnames and merge the settings together in a smart way (vs clubbing it right?)
