I have verified this as well as what Al suggested in his comment and all seems to be fine. I was able to do this two weeks ago at another one of my sites, so I wondering is someone was fiddling with the security on the root domain. I think I'm going to send those administrators some e-mail to verify that they didn't revoke any of my enterprise admin rights. Who knows them might have thought that I didn't need them. I just wanted to check before I pushed them on anything.
Thanks for the suggestions.
