We are testing GFI right now, has anyone else used
this? We have a problem with random access to the floppy drive. The
drive just starts going crazy at random times. From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Nazim Akperov Sent: Monday, April 18, 2005 4:35 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [ActiveDir] Disable USB storage ( may beOT) get a GFI portable storage control

not sure if this is not Ot my as problem is that I have disable the USB stick in
our company (app 250 user; Win 2000 + 2003). I wrote a new .adm file and was
able to disable USB devices on Windows 2000 desktops but with Windows XP I am
getting an error messages (wrong parameters). The .adm file is as
follow: CLASS
MACHINE CATEGORY !!USB_settings POLICY
!!disable_USB_devices EXPLAIN
!!USB_help KEYNAME
System\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR VALUENAME
Start
VALUEON 4 VALUEOFF 3 END
POLICY END
CATEGORY [strings] USB_settings="USB settings" disable_USB_devices="disable USB
devices" USB_help="With this policy USB mass storage device
permissions can be enabled or disabled.Selecting 'Disable' will allow USB mass
storage devices to be installed. Selecting 'Enable' will prohibit
the
installation of USB mass storage devices." I know
that the parameters are correct as it works with Windows 2000. Does anybody know
what I need to change in the policy to get it going with Windows
XP? Thanks
