When using a DC in a LAG site be sure NOT to assign WINS server IP addresses to the server! If you do the DC will register the 1Ch record in WINS. The 1Ch record in WINS is the record that each DC register so that (legacy) clients (or NetBIOS based apps) can find DCs. Also make sure the DCs in the LAG site do NOT register ANY record besides the replication record (CNAME). Don't use DNS weights/priorities because then you'll have the possibility that they could be used!
Using a LAG site can save you some important time when accidental deletions occur on other DCs. The deletions to the DC(s) in the LAG site will be "on-hold" until replication starts which mostly is delayed. Another PRO of using a LAG site is: check the results of the restore after the restore without impacting the complete AD environment! Normally when you restore a DC and connect it to the network its wants to start replicating to the other DCs within the same site and other sites. Using a LAG site, you can check if your restore meets your needs.
