I think an "out-of-band management" solution will help you with this. A solution like this gives you the ability to manage the server remote as you were standing behind the physical server. W2K3 already has a solution called "Emergency Management Services (EMS)" (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windowsserver2003/library/Tech Ref/006d2fb3-7817-44cf-b648-6e4a7e5b1710.mspx), but you also need additional hardware. Third-parties (like dell, hp, ibm) also have their own solutions.
And yes, I agree with Rick... don't use images solely to restore DCs! EVER! You can use an image to initially restore a DC but after that you NEED/MUST restore the system disk and the system state which are the native supported ways of restoring DCs Cheers #JORGE# -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [email protected] Sent: 6/9/2005 2:13 AM Subject: [ActiveDir] Server Image Pushing Using Ghost Cast Server and DHCP Hi All, I have a question? Can i have an ghost image for my server and if in a situation of server crash i can rebuild it using ghost image. But this all is to be done remotely, so i dont have any physical access to the server. Can i have another server configured as dhcp so that i can run this image through PXE boot. and the some how i can run ghost cast server to push image to this machine. I am a little confused. But i am sure if it works than recovering a server will be less time consuming job for me. I have this as a backup option which i have to plan for our new site. -- DR List info : http://www.activedir.org/List.aspx List FAQ : http://www.activedir.org/ListFAQ.aspx List archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/activedir%40mail.activedir.org/ This e-mail and any attachment is for authorised use by the intended recipient(s) only.
