I would strongly advise against doing this. If there is nothing available that can proxy the incoming requests, then the solution needs to be re-engineered with Security in mind.
Given your industry, HIPPA is very, very clear on matters of accidental disclosure when reasonable measures could have been taken. IMHO, this would be a very clear violation of 'due diligence' in relation to HIPPA.
