I have changed mine. (Mainly because I didn't configure all of the servers and we forgot what password was used).
Here are the steps that I follow when I change it: 1. type ntdsutil 2. set dsrm password 3. reset password on server null 4 <enter new password> 5. q 6. q I'm not sure how scriptable this would be.
