merging forests into 1 forest is not possible...

you can however create a trust (forest trust if both are w2k3 and in ffl w2k3,
otherwise an external trust) between the 2. You can still setup DNS so that
problem.joe.com is delegated from joe.com en problem.joe.com forwards to joe.com
You did not say if you have exchange... that will be another story.... each
forest can only have 1 exchange org. So you need to choose between which forest
gets the exchange org or do both forest get their own exchange org.
With the first you have all mailboxes in one forest and accounts in both
forest. Some of the mailboxes will have enabled user accounts and some will
have disabled accounts (that represent the users in the other forest)
With the second the accounts in each forest will have their mailboxes in their
own forest. You need however to sync GALs en free/busy info.

If you keep both forest is best to configure the sites and subnets the same in
both forests

If possible you could also migrate the objects (users groups etc) from
problem.joe.com to joe.com

Hi again. I should have used "mixing" instead of "joining". We want to mix
domains front diferent forests into domains in the same forest wit a
parent-child relationship.

Tanks again.

Asunto: [ActiveDir] Joining forest with a problem in the name.

Hi everybody.

We got a problem with a domain that was installed nosensesly. We got a domain
named (example): joe.com; and the problem is that we have a domain that
unfortunately was named (example): problem.joe.com; both domains are the first
domain of a new forest tree. And we need to make problem.joe.com child of
joe.com or at least establish transitive relationship.

Obviously as you can imagine we can´t cause of the equal domains root. We need
to do it without reinstall or deleting the problem.joe.com domain... we know
the way of change the problem.joe.com but we cannot afford it. There is any way
of join it?, maybe building the DNS manually, establishing sites, creating
relationchips by han?...

Any idea?.

Thanks a lot.
