If there are files where you do not have read access (but do have
backup permissions) you will nead to use /B or /ZB to avoid access
denied problems.

Here we use robocopy as part of our backup solution. (We copy to disk
and to tape) and the following is an example

robocopy \\ficheros\shareroot$ m:\copias\ficheros\diario /mir /w:2
/r:2 /zb /XD pcsetup /log+:m:\logs\cluster.txt /np

We then back the copy up to tape. Often we can recover lost user files
almost instantly from disk.

It is also important to read and rename the log file now and then.
You should also note the values robocopy returns to the calling
program. If you are using a scheduled task do not expect to see to a
return code of 0 as this is the trivial case when no files needed to
be copied. Instead return codes of 4 and above should be investigated.

As you said /mir is not appropiate for you and you should use /m .
/XD is useful for excluding directories that you do not wish to copy.
See also /XF for excluding specific files.

Personally I think robocopy is perfectly adequate for what you are
attempting. Print robocopy.doc and put it under your pillow for a
couple of days. Shame it doesn't have an activex interface.
