If you haven't been out to see the joeware tools, you really should take a look.

As for manipulation and working with this, have you seen joeware tools yet? If not, it might be worth your time.

Alternatively, you can use scripts (perl, vb, python, etc depening on your comfort level) or you can use something like admodify.net if you want. The dstools (batch files or similar) could be used as well as any of the .net languages.

LDIF is pretty unforgiving but can do what you want here. If it's for modification, then csvde is not the option you want to look at.

Have you checked out the joeware tools? If not, you may want to have a look as they might do what you're after with minimal effort.

Is this something you'll have to read from a file? How are you getting the information you want to modify and what do you expect to do with the email addrs? Email addr changes can wreak havoc if you're not careful.

Subject: [ActiveDir] Export AD information....
Date: Mon, 14 Nov 2005 02:18:15 -0800 (PST)

Hello,

I've been asked to export the following fields from Active Directory into a file format which I can then manipulate then re-import. The fields are

  User Name
  First Name
  Last Name
  Department
  Title
  Office
  Telephone Number
  City
  Mobile
  Home
  Email Address

Am I able to export this information in one export, it would it require multiple exports? Does anyone have a command to hand that would help me to do this or something similar? I've looked at LDIFDE and CSVDE but I am unsure about how to use the parameters.

  Any help will be appreciated.

  thanks

  Franks
