I tried the procedures outlined on MS's site, using random, gpfixup,
etc., and while the procedures all completed without error, the Exchange
domain did not get renamed. So, it appears that I will be doing an
uninstall of at least exchange.

Thanks to everyone that responded!

Steve

Subject: [ActiveDir] Rename domain - DC with Exchange installed

Hi everyone,

We have a Windows 2003 SP1 server with Exchange 2003 installed. I need
to change the domain name. Doing some reading up on the subject, I'm
getting conflicting information on whether this is even possible in our
case. For the record, this is our DC (and the only DC in the domain) and
it has Exchange installed on it.

I've read the documentation that MS has available on the two tools for
domain renaming and am not clear on whether I need to first uninstall
Exchange to do this.

Has anyone here done this successfully without uninstalling Exchange
first?

TIA for any pointers!

Steve
