I seem to recall playing with this before on DCs and seeing issues. You can try to configure the reg value DisableStrictNameChecking=1 (DWORD) - see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;281308   The issue I seem to recall was that the name didn't stick in the netbios table. You would register on boot but as soon as the DC functions kicked in it would blow the additional name out of the name table.   I would say do a nbtstat -n, if you see the name in the table then enable the reg value specified in the article above and you should be good to go.
