I have done this in our environment and I use it to alter employee id's and employee numbers from whatever workstation I want (through the ADUC). I used ADSI edit and made changes to the containers throughout the forest so that any admin could get the right click context and make changes (if allowed to do so). I am off work today, but tomorrow I will post the details of how I did it.
